A Dublin-based IT company is to represent Ireland as a National Champion in the annual European Business Awards, for the second year in a row.
Agile Networks, which builds and supports complex IT networks, has been selected as a National Champion for the ‘Business of the Year’ award. Joining other Irish National Champions such ESB International, Dawn Meats and PayPal, Agile Networks will now compete head-to-head against European companies in the ‘Business of the Year’ award category of the European Business Awards.
In May 2014, Agile Networks reached the final stages of the European Business Awards 2013/14, receiving the ‘Ruban d’Honneur’ and competing in the ‘Customer Focus’ category at the finals in Athens, Greece.
The European Business Awards is an independent awards programme, designed to recognise and promote excellence, best practice and innovation in the European business community and is open to organisations of all sizes and sectors. Now in its eighth year, 709 companies from across Europe have been named as National Champions for 2014/15.

Agile Networks (www.agilenetworks.ie), which is headquartered in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 was set up in 2011 after Richardson and several senior members of the management team successfully staged a management buy-out of Telindus’ Irish operations. Since then, the company has trebled its staff and grown revenues by an average of 105% per year over its first 3 years of business. With blue chip clients across 1,200 sites throughout Ireland over 1.2 million people rely on Agile Networks to support their IT network.
This year Agile Networks was also voted ‘Reseller of the Year’ at the 2014 Tech Excellence Awards and won the ‘Emerging New Business Award’ at the 2014 SFA National Business Awards.
The next stage of the competition sees the National Champions prepare their Video Entry and compete by category alongside all European National Champions. A panel of judges made up of Europe-wide business leaders, academics and entrepreneurs will view the National Champions’ videos, and award the best of this group the coveted ‘Ruban d’Honneur’ status.
The public will also be able to vote on-line through www.businessawardseurope.com for their favourite National Champion – last year over 93,000 votes were cast, and over 400,000 people visited the EBA website during the competition. The grand final in 2015 will see one winner in each category being crowned in Europe’s toughest business competition.
